The Coorie
The Elements
Sauna, cold water immersion, therapeutic bodywork and breathwork around Loch Lomond. The Coorie organises restoration around four elements: Earth, Fire, Water and Air.
Earth
Nurturing, grounding treatments and hands-on support that encourage:
- Systemic Calm – Gently lowering the heart rate and quieting the mind to create a deep sense of internal safety.
- Physical Ease – Releasing the specific patterns of tension and "armour" held within the muscles and joints.
- Somatic Connection – Re-establishing the bridge between mind and body, helping you feel fully "home" in yourself.
Based near Loch Lomond, Hilary is fortunate to be able to connect with nature regularly. Living surrounded by clean air, the beauty of Loch Lomond, trees and peace, she can be found regularly out enjoying the conditions rain, hail or shine!
Hilary trained with the College of Cranio Sacral Therapy in London, completing in 2017. Since then, Hilary has continued to expand her experience, with certification in Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Body Massage. Hilary has enjoyed working in spa environments in the local area, and in Glasgow, and following some time working in a more corporate setting, Hilary is delighted to be embracing her future in the wellbeing world.
Having experienced the healing benefits of cold water swimming following a head injury, Hilary has continued to experience, and explore ways of enhancing her own feelings of wellbeing and health. This experience has allowed Hilary to heal, and to refine her experience of connecting with nature, which has formed the basis of the Coorie. The most recent addition to these offerings, has been the integration of sauna heat within Hilary’s regular practice. She is delighted to be able to expand this offering to the local area.
Fire
Harnessing the power of heat to invite:
- Renewal – A deep, cleansing sweat that flushes the system, detoxifies and clears the pores.
- Stillness – Lowering cortisol levels for immediate mental clarity and peace.
- Transformation – Softening the physical and emotional layers we carry through the day.
A space to melt away the day—especially powerful when met with the cold.
Having enjoyed cold water swimming, as the seasons changed, Hilary found the pursuit of heat ever more crucial to the enjoyment of swimming outside. Having used a wetsuit in the winter for a number of years, this was combined with the use of sauna facilities within local spa and work environments. The growth of wild saunas over recent years has allowed Hilary to experience the incredible heat, tingle and ‘ready brek glow’ of sauna followed by cold water.
Having purchased her own sauna, and been able to experience the regular use of sauna in nature, the health benefits are undeniable. Further research into the impact of saunas on reducing inflammation, and many aging factors is also encouraging, however, once you have experienced the effect for yourself, it is not surprising to read the extensive impact a sauna can have on your health.
Water
A restorative practice through bath or wild nature that encourages:
- Nervous System Regulation – The gentle "reset" of the vagus nerve, moving you from tension to tranquility.
- Embodied Grounding – Using the weight and temperature of water to bring your awareness back into the physical self.
- Elemental Stillness – A deep immersion in the present moment, clearing mental clutter through sensory connection.
A powerful healing modality where your system is the guide; we work at a pace that feels safe for you.
Situated in a quiet area of Loch Lomond, we are delighted to be able to support the ‘heat’ with the ‘cool’ of Loch Lomond. Living in the West of Scotland, we are fortunate to have an abundance of water (rain), and honestly, there are rarely conditions when it is not a pleasure to engage with nature, providing you can get warm again. I will take Billy Connolly’s statement claiming there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing .. one step further. There are rarely conditions that cannot be enjoyed from the warmth of the sauna in nature… even the most dreich conditions can be a pleasure.
Air
Group meditation and breathwork practices designed to bring clarity and spaciousness to the mind, whether in nature or the workplace:
- Mental Clarity – Moving beyond the "noise" of the day to find a calm, focused internal space.
- Regulated Vitality – Using the breath to balance the nervous system and enhance collective focus.
- Present Moment Anchoring – Shifting from "doing" to "being," providing the tools to navigate pressure with quiet confidence.
